Hello and welcome back to an exciting new school year.
We will have a new learning focus based on our new curriculum – Dimensions. Our learning will be cross curricular and theme based.
Our theme at the moment is Time Team which is about the history of the local area and also focuses on the geographical skills of map reading.
Practise all times tables facts up to 12x12 including division facts. Make sure you know them off by heart and can answer questions even if they include decimals, such as 0.7 x 8 = 5.6; and multiples of 10 eg 70 x 8 = 560.
Read every day - this can be a book from home, school or online; fiction or non-fiction. Remember to record this in your reading diary.
Complete some of the following activities to broaden your understanding of our Time Team theme. You could walk to some local landmarks such as Holy Cross Church, Wat Tyler Park, Langdon Hills or St Nicholas Church. You could find and look at some old maps of Basildon and see how our local area has changed over the years. You could try to find out how old your house is and perhaps discover what the land your house is on was before your house was built. Finally, you might want to research the history of a Basildon landmark of your choice.
Please continue to use a range of techniques to help you learn the spellings from the year 3/4 and 5/6 spelling list.
