Ensure your child has their reading book and reading record in school every day and that they read EVERY day

Ensure your child has a water bottle in school and that is filled at home each day.

Sapphire has PE on a Monday afternoon so please ensure your child's PE kit is in school every day, including a tracksuit. Remember that earrings and watches MUST be removed for PE. If girls wear tights to school, they will need a pair of socks as part of their PE kit too.

Class Teacher - Miss Carr

LSA - Mrs Norris

This half term, we will be continuing to learn about the Second World War, including looking at propaganda, the role of women and the treatment of Jews. We will be having a World War Two day, which includes a visit from a theatre company, on 4th May, where children (and staff!) are encouraged to dress up for the day.

In English, we will be writing non-chronological reports and a World War Two story. Our group reading text is Goodnight Mr Tom and our listen up book is The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas.

In maths we will be learning about ratio, co-ordinates, translating shapes, reflection and symmetry and also carrying out assessments.

In science for this half term we are learning about electrical circuits, including using the symbols to draw electrical circuits, identifying reasons why a circuit might not work, how circuits can be changed and alternative energy sources.

In PSHE we will be learning about personal safety, developing strategies for resisting peer pressure and how to recognise and deal with risk. We will also be holding a British Values week during the week beginning 30th March.

Our PE focus is 'invasion' where we will cover ball skills and team games.

In French, our unit of work is learning about where some French cities are located and talking about tourist attractions in Paris. We will also learn about French-speaking countries and name popular French foods.

Homework and spellings will be set and given out by English and Maths group teachers. Homework is given out on the Friday and due in on the following Thursday. I hold a homework club for Year 6 on a Tuesday lunch time from 12:30 til 1:00 which all Year 6 children are free to attend.
