Hello and welcome to another exciting theme.

We will continue to use our new curriculum _ Dimensions.  Our learning will be theme based across all the Early Years Areas of learning – Communication and Language, Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.  This theme is called Humpty and Friends and will last for three weeks.  We will then be moving on to think about Christmas and why we celebrate Christmas.

Our weekly themes will be:-

We will singing the nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty.  We will be learning all about eggs and the animals that come from eggs.

This week we will be learning the nursery rhymes Incy Wincy Spider and Little Miss Muffett.  We will be learning about spiders and minibeasts.

This week will be based around the nursery rhymes Three Blind Mice and Hickory Dickory Dock.  We will be learning all about mice.

We will be learning about why Christmas is a very special time for Christians through the story of the Nativity.  We will be writing letters to Father Christmas and completing lots of art and craft activities.

We will continue our phonic learning through our phonic scheme Bug Club Phonics.  We will be learning the sounds g, o, c, k, ck, e, u, r, h, b, f, ff, l, ll, ss.  We will be blending the sounds together to read words.  We will use magnetic boards to spell words using the sounds taught.

Our maths learning continues on the theme 1, 2, 3 It’s Me looking at how numbers 2 and 3 are composed, identifying more and less as well as looking at the properties of the shapes circle and triangle.  We will then move onto Light and Dark, this phase looks at the numbers 4 and 5 as well as time.

This will be your homework for 5 weeks

Count forwards and backwards 1-10 from a given number.

Find one more/one less than 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.  Challenge if you can do on more/less try 2 more/less.

Read and share books from home with your child for pleasure, ask them to make a list of their favourite stories.

Learn 5 new nursery rhymes.

Have a go at blending the phase 2 sound words and reading them to your adult.

Practice you letter formation for s, a, t, p, i, n, m. d, g, o, c, k, e, u, r, h, b, f – try to remember where each one starts and finishes.
