Welcome to Spring 2!
Our topic this half term is Eager Explorers!
We will be finding out lots of new information through this exciting topic.
We will explore rhyme, identifying rhyming words within stories and continuing a rhyming string. We will complete a range of activities during our World Book day celebrations. We will write shopping lists for the ingredients for making pancakes and Easter nests.
We will explore positional language to describe where objects are situated. We will also follow instructions involving positional language. We will look at ways of recording using marks that we can interpret and explain when we try to find out the favourite topping for pancakes.
We will experiment with different ways of moving using apparatus. We will also explore how to jump off an object and land appropriately.
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
We will have the opportunity to become aware of and interested in the natural world and we will develop responsible and caring attitudes towards animals and plants. We will develop our sense of responsibility for caring for our environment including our homes, school and local neighbourhood.
Understanding the World
Through our Forest School sessions we will look at the local environment and compare to our own environment. We will show care and concern for living things and the environment. We will also begin to understand that the environment and living things are influenced by human activity. We will also explore a number of special days and celebrations within this topic, including, Shrove Tuesday, Mothering Sunday, World Book Day, St David’s and St Patrick’s Day. Within this area we will take photographs in the unit ‘we can observe’. We will take photographs in our environment and compare the similarities and differences to other environments. We will write a caption for our printed photograph.
Expressive Arts and Design
We will explore what happens when we mix colours. We will use recycled objects when junk modelling. Through junk modelling we will begin to understand the tools and techniques needed to shape, assemble and join materials. Within this area we will be working on the Charanga unit ‘Everyone’. We will learn songs with actions. We will explore music from around the world . We will also learn to play instruments within a song.
